Unit 7

The "Meeting Asciepious" exercise was definitely very helpful. It really allowed me to look within myself to find the strength, wisdom and loving-kindness needed to continue to flourish. The exercise reminds me of how every individual on the planet serves a purpose, and how they also possess these treasures. The mindfulness practices have also helped me tremendously. I have always been a very spiritual person, but these exercises have brought me even closer to the source (God).

The saying "one cannot lead where one has not gone himself", is just that. How can I/practitioner lead or direct someone without first knowing how to get there and what is to be expected. Of course, considering the spiritual realm of our existence. I agree with the points the texts makes regarding patient and physician relationships. They are disconnected because of insurance and money issues. Through a more integral approach, this relationship can become more meaningful and beneficial for all individuals involved in the healing process.

  1. Maria,
I was glad to read your blog this week. I am glad that it was beneficial for you. This one was a harder one for me because I have a hard time with the visualization and staying focused. You helped clear my understanding of it to realize that it was actually having us look inward to find the strength, wisdom, and loving kindness to continue flourishing. I am trying to integrate several of these practices into my daily life so I can continue to grown. Glad to hear that it has brought you spiritually closer to God. That is great.
I also liked your comment about the physcian and patient relationship. That was my favorite part of the reading I totally agree that we need to change this into a more holistic approach so that the patient is in control of their treatment process. That is why I have not found a doctor here in South Texas that I like yet. They all want to walk in and spend 5 minutes with you and act like they know your diagnosis before even talking with you. I do not like that and will not see a doctor like that. I want someone who will take the time to listen and then apply their skills and knowledge to let me know what is going on and what my options are. It seems like so many times there are no options just what the physician wants you to do. It's like you have no say or input in your own care and I do not like that.
Are you applying some of these practices to your personal and professional life currently?

  2. Hi Maria, I also consider myself a spiritual person and have been on this path for some time now, but as you mentioned these practices does give me greater insight, and connection to my spiritual self, I am inspired and motivated to continue on this new path that has been laid out so beautifully and simple for us.
    One Love
    Joan
